Trend Predictions – A/W 2018

Posted on 28/02/2018

Barney and the team are excited about their trend predictions for A/W 2018.

We are seeing a return to strong, technical haircuts. The kind of hair that does itself. Short haircuts that are both strong yet soft, cut by a passionate professional are a high fashion not a high maintenance look.

The winter fringe will crop up. It’s not neat but it is perfect. Any cut will embrace the hairs natural texture and movement. Cuts that offer versatility and work with the hair is the key to hair that does itself. We are seeing 70’s through to the 00’s reworked and the evolution of classics from these era’s are modernised for today.

From the catwalk we are still seeing punchy artificial colours. Translating for every day wear we see this as chalky pastel blossom tones, true rose, brûlée, bluebell. The look is soft multi coloured
highlights, shimmeringly different tones in the hair coming from the root, a return to foiling. Colour is bespoke for each individual, we are encouraging clients to maintain the integrity and health
of their hair so they can work toward achieving whichever colour they choose. The hair colour will be working with the cut to make it even more personalised.

When it comes to colour we know that anything is achievable. Underpinning any colour trend is the need for healthy hair.

For the boys, it’s time to finally farewell the beards and embrace longer, grown out hair. This balances out the new found cleanshaven-ness. And it means you’re more likely to share products!

The Daily Mail loved them too and decided to tell the world about the upcoming trends for cut, colour, style and importantly for the boys too. Their grown out looks are awesome for sharing products from the bathroom cabinet! Excerpts from their article here!

BESPOKE COLOUR

The team at Barney Martin said that we are still seeing a trend for artificial hair colours on the catwalk.

‘Translating for every day wear we see this as chalky pastel blossom tones, true rose, brûlée and bluebell,’ they told FEMAIL.

‘The look is soft multi-coloured highlights, shimmeringly different tones in the hair coming from the root, a return to foiling.’

They explained that colour is bespoke for each individual and they’re encouraging clients to ‘maintain the integrity and health of their hair’ to make it easier to work towards being able to achieve the colour they like.

‘When it comes to colour we know that anything is achievable. Underpinning any colour is the need for healthy hair,’ they said.

WINTER FRINGE

‘The winter fringe will also crop up. It’s not neat but it is perfect. Any cut will embrace the hairs natural texture and movement,’ Barney Martin said.

‘Cuts that offer versatility and work with the hair is the key to hair that does itself.

‘We are seeing 70’s through to the 00’s reworked and the evolution of classics from these era’s are modernised for today.’
